Latest Update:  July 15

Hey Hope,

At the beginning of July, we let you know we were going to do a two-week pause as COVID rates in Arizona were increasing and hospitals were dangerously full.  We did online-only services July 5 and 12, and we are going to extend that one more week with online-only services for July 19.

Starting July 26, we will be having in-person services again at Wilson at 9:00 & 10:45 a.m.  We will also have a TV and speaker set up outside for those that would feel more comfortable to stay outdoors during both services.  In addition, the first service will be filmed and uploaded for those that prefer to watch from home (this will hopefully be uploaded and emailed out between 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.)

Unfortunately, COVID seems like it will be around for a while, though we are earnestly praying for an end.  With this in mind, we hope to be as cautious as possible at Wilson by wearing masks when social distancing cannot be maintained, disinfecting chairs and high touch areas regularly, avoiding handshakes and hugs, keeping chairs separated in the sanctuary, and having hand sanitizing tables set up.  Of course, please follow guidelines for staying at home when you have fevers or other sicknesses in your house – especially at this time.

A few families at Hope have come down with COVID and if you are connected to them, please look for ways to serve them.  We also have many at the church dealing with other difficult struggles that are in need of encouragement from our body – plenty of opportunities to serve the Lord by serving others!  In addition, many nurses and doctors are struggling with what they face, let us commit to pray for them.  We will be sending baskets full of snacks and drinks to the emergency units and COVID units of Northwest and Oro Valley Hospitals thanking them for what they do.  (There is also a network of other churches in Tucson sending encouragement to other hospitals in town.  Praise the Lord for His CHURCH rising up!)

I know many of you are excited to get back together for physical services.  We also have a large group that should quarantine themselves in this season, and they are not going to be coming back to live services anytime soon.  Thus, we will continue striving to make sure our online videos are well done.  In addition, please stay connected through Wednesday/Friday videos sent out through emails.  Also, look for ways to encourage one another and spur one another on toward love and good deeds with phone calls, Zooms, and small group gatherings.

God is at work even during hard times – sometimes especially in the hard times – let us make sure not to miss the chance to join the Lord in what He is doing!

For Him,

Pastor Randy
