January Newsletter 2020

Home Groups for 2020

Happy New Year everyone!  I know that many of you are going to start up a new Bible reading plan and possibly many other resolutions you hope to put into practice for 2020.  Let me also encourage you to consider joining a Home Group.  Julie and I have been so blessed by the relationships and encouragement we have experienced in our Home Group.

Maybe some of you have tried a couple times, and it hasn’t worked out.  Yet I want to encourage you to try again.  Home Groups are a vital part of Hope.  We truly believe that if you put God’s people and God’s Word in the same room that good things can be the result.  In Home Groups, we see relational connections, prayer for one another, serving together, ministering to each other’s needs, and spiritual growth.  January 5 & 12 are sign-up dates for this session of Hope Home Groups.

~ Pastor Randy

The Art of Marriage class (Getting to the heart of God’s design for Marriage) will be offered beginning January 12 for six weeks from 10:45 to 12:00 p.m. at Wilson School.  The class will be facilitated by Jim & Cathy Luckow.

Discipleship Corner

I often resist “programmatic” discipleship.  It can become sterile or feel forced.  My hope and prayer is that we, as Christians, would see the benefit for all involved in intentional, strategic discipleship relationships.  For 2020, my prayer is that we will see God move in big ways at Hope in the area of intentional discipleship relationships.  Please join me in praying for this and let’s see what God does!

The Gospel Project is helping us teach our children to:

  • See the Big Story:  Kids will understand that the Bible is not a collection of stories, but God’s unified story of redemption.
  • Read Scripture as Christ-centered:  The Leader Guide and Activity Pages provide a deep, Christ-centered Bible study experience for all ages.
  • Grasp Essential Christian Doctrines:  The Big Picture Questions and Answers are designed to help kids understand essential theological doctrines of the Christian faith.

Thank you Matt Poling & Karen Martinez for your great leadership with our HopeKids Christmas program!  Hope kids you did a fantastic job!

Thanks Melanie Schwarz, Karen Martinez, Rick & Kirsten Kattinge for all your help with the Cocoa & Caroling event and Carson Miller who let us use his awesome trailer!

From a Copper Creek community member (where we went caroling) on the next door app:
“We just had Christmas carolers come to our door and my heart is full! If anyone was part of that group, thank you for making my night! ❤️”

Join us January 8, 2020 for the first Awana club meeting of the new year!
All children 4 years old – 6th grade are invited to join us at Summit Ridge Community Church, 5:45-7:45 p.m.
With an unwavering commitment to the Gospel, Awana is being used to reach over 4 million kids every week in 120 countries, giving children and youth from every background an opportunity to know, love and serve Jesus for a lifetime.
Contact Tim Tolson for more information: timtolson@comcast.net.

We have an amazing team of volunteers serving in HopeKids each Sunday morning and at Awana on Wednesday nights! Our children’s ministry couldn’t function without these servants. If you’re interested in joining our HopeKids volunteer team, I would love to talk with you about our needs and get you plugged in according to your giftedness!

“…not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. – Hebrews 10:25

This verse continues to be the heartbeat of HopeYouth. Sunday nights, Bible studies, HopeYouth events can all seem to add to our busyness. But does it?  I am convinced that more than ever students need to be actively involved in Youth Ministry more than sports, homework or any other activity.  It is my prayer that we would have the passion to train our students in godliness and what it means to be a part of the body of Christ. Encouraging each other is so important, so please join me in praying that HopeYouth will continue to be a place of encouragement for students.
