In one of our trips to the Philippines, our team visited an Aeta Pastor Training Center. The Aeta pastors lived there for 6 weeks and learned: the Bible, Theology, Gardening, Guitar, and a host of other things. They were then sent out to their villages. It was awesome, but what was most memorable of that day for me, was a question that the wife of the training leader asked. We were sitting outside eating some sort of rice rolled in a banana leaf and covered in an orange sugar and she asked each of us: “What is your ministry at HOPE?” As we drove back to the Children’s Home that day, some of our team talked about how they were unsure about how to answer that question. They were unsure if they really had a ministry that they were involved in at HOPE.
It’s a great thing to ponder. It is a Biblical truth that we should each consider ourselves ministers in God’s Kingdom. It can be focused outward (and that is really important) or inward to encourage your fellow believers.
At HOPE, “every member is a minister”. In the book of Ephesians, Paul tells us that is why God gives pastors – to prepare God’s people to minister (Ephesians 4:11-12). It is not the pastor who does the works of service but it is the people in the church. The people in the church are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works which God prepares beforehand (Ephesians 2:10). How would you answer that question: “What is your ministry at HOPE?” If you can’t answer that right now, find an area you can step out in faith to minister with God’s people.

It often seems to me that I am ten steps behind in discovering the great new song people are talking about. That being said, I just recently “discovered” New Wine by Hillsong. The lyrics are beautiful and filled with longing…
In the crushing
In the pressing
You are making new wine
In the soil, I
Now surrender
You are breaking
New ground
So I yield to You and to Your careful hand
When I trust You I don’t need to understand
Make me your vessel
Make me an offering
Make me whatever You want me to be
I came here with nothing
But all you have given me
Jesus, bring new wine out of me
The world offers countless ways for us to reinvent ourselves, God offers one… The Cross. While the crushing and pressing are painful, we know they are necessary if He is going to bring “new wine” out of you and me. So, we are invited to yield…to become “Vessels sanctified and useful to the Master.” (2 Timothy 2:21)

Thanks to all the ladies who came out for our local outreach to Enchanted Hills Baptist Church. We painted three school rooms for them and had a great time of fellowship while doing it!

A big thank you to Linda Kimmel for equipping our students and a shout out to the 4th and 5th graders who bravely went and told others about Jesus! Way to go in presenting the Good News!
