Newsletter, June 2019

The Bible tells us “as iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.”  In so many Bible verses, it seems that God has designed us to grow spiritually with the help of each other.  I hope all of you are experiencing life in a Home Group.  If not, consider joining one this summer.  We are having sign ups June 2 and 9.  If Home Groups cannot work in your life, consider a weekly men’s or women’s gathering (even if you have to do all the recruiting).
Accountability can be an incredibly helpful tool in these times together.  Here is a possible way to add accountability to an all-male or all-female group setting below.

  1. How much time have you spent in daily prayer?
  2. How much time have you spent in daily Bible reading/weekly Bible study?
  3. How much time have you spent in daily scripture memory?
  4. How fully have you “entered into the presence of God” this week?

5. Who have you been praying for daily and what are you doing intentionally:

  • For those who you wish to accept Jesus?
  • For those who you are discipling/mentoring?
  • For those who are future prospects for discipling/mentoring?
  • For those who are discipling/mentoring you?

6. How much time have you spent cultivating Intimacy with God this week in:

  • Fasting and Prayer?
  • Daily Solitude and Weekly Sabbath?
  • Worship through Singing (alone or corporately)?

7. Have you been absolutely pure and free of even a hint of sexual immorality in thought or action this week? (I Timothy 5:2 &                 Ephesians 5:3)

8. To what extent have you taken care of your body this week with proper:

  • Sleep?
  • Exercise?
  • Diet?

9. Does your life feel “out of control” in regards to time management, and if so, what are you doing about it?

10. Have you been dishonest, misleading or deceitful in any way this week or in answering these questions?

Discipleship Corner

Bill Hull asked Dr. Robert Coleman, the author of The Master Plan of Evangelism, “If you could only ask the American church one question, what would it be?”

He didn’t pause long before he said, “What is your excuse for not obeying our Lord’s command to make disciples?”

Bill Hull’s thoughts:  “Reflecting on his question, I think their excuse is that no one told them they were responsible to make disciples and that no one taught them to be a disciple. No one told them that discipleship was part of what it means to be saved and to be faithful—that as ordinary believers, there was such a high expectation for them.”

Taylor Children Dedication

Active toddlers have active brains!
There is a reason the toddler room is full of energy! It’s important to remember that active toddlers are active learners- their brain activity is off the charts when they’re moving. Not only that, but they really do have energy they need to burn, so we can’t expect them to keep still all morning. A UK study showed that toddlers can burn as much energy in a day that in an adult would be the equivalent of running a marathon! When we are ministering to toddlers in church or at home, let’s make sure we encourage movement to reinforce the Bible and the truth of God’s love for them!

Because Kids Are Never Too Young To Learn About Christ!

In May we began to teach the Awana Puggle curriculum in our Toddler class.  Unit 1 focuses on the precept:  God made everything.  Each week the children learn about one of God’s creations.  The toddlers in HopeKids are beginning to learn about our heavenly Father who loves us with an everlasting love.  We have the potential to impact these young lives for eternity!

July Outreach:  HopeKids will be hosting a Mom & Child Game Night at Gospel Rescue Mission in July! More details coming soon!

To the children of HopeKids:  Your relationship with Jesus will always be the most important thing in your life.
To the parents of Hopekids:  We recognize that you are, by far, the most important spiritual influence in your child’s life, so we are here to partner with and support you in your efforts.
