Incredible Progress

From 1996-2010, I served as a youth pastor at Northwest Bible Church here in Tucson.  Serving in that ministry was a joy, but in those last few years, God put it on my heart to plant a new church here in Tucson.  With NWBC’s blessing, about 40 adventurous saints stepped out in faith and officially began services for Hope Community Church in January 2011.  Our first rental agreement was with Wilson Middle School, which is where we have continued to hold services these past 15 years (except for one year at El Conquistador Resort during Covid).  God has used Hope to plant churches, send missionaries, build churches/schools around the world, baptize new believers, and edify the body of Christ.  Our God is amazing!
In terms of a place for Hope to call home and continue ministry in God’s kingdom, we have been constantly looking and praying.  Early on, we looked at some land behind Wilson that ended up not working.  We also purchased 10 acres on Tangerine and La Cholla, but that also had water and sewer difficulties that drove the price of building up too high (that property was sold).  In 2021, we were considering buying the bowling alley on Ina Road which would also have cost a lot for renovation.  Before making a decision on that property, a church closed on 3130 W. Overton Road.  After a short conversation with that regional denomination, a price was set and Hope was able to purchase our current property.
Just last year, we were able to expand the 4.5 acres to 5.5 acres, by purchasing the last one-acre lot behind the church.  This lot also has a small house (affectionately known as the Hobbit House).  Skilled Hope members have been hard at work preparing that house for immediate and needed ministry space.  Next month Pastor Kevin, Pastor Gary, Ambassadors Church Staff, one of our missionaries and I will be moving into that space for offices.  This will not only provide office space, but will also allow the older modular to be removed so that construction on our new Church worship center and HopeKids wing can begin.  Lord willing, we will have our final civil engineering document soon and be able to begin building this year!
We desire to be a light for the community right there on Overton Road.  Thank you Lord for the incredible progress you have made!  May God continue to use Hope to plant more churches, send more missionaries, build more schools and churches around the world, baptize new believers, and grow spiritually in community as the church is edified.

Our Women’s Ministry is bringing in nationally known speaker and apologist, Megan Almon, for a powerful and timely conference on Saturday, April 11 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Community Room.

Megan is widely recognized as a learned Bible scholar whose particular message resonates with young women and teens.
Megan will explore in session one, “The Bankruptcy of Moral Relativism", the many contrasts between a Biblical worldview and a cultural one. In session 2, “Beauty the Art of War”, Megan will present how the concept of beauty has been corrupted and exploited in today’s world and how young women can cast off the bondage of pursing this perverted version of what God has deemed beautiful and absolute.

This is a DON’T MISS opportunity for moms, grandparents and teens to become Biblically literate and spiritually empowered to live in the light of God’s good plan for true beauty.
