SpeakTruth Plainly
Therefore, since through God’s mercy we have this ministry, we do not lose heart. Rather, we have renounced secret and shameful ways; we do not use deception, nor do we distort the Word of God. On the contrary, by setting forth the truth plainly we commend ourselves to everyone’s conscience in the sight of God. And even if our Gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. (2 Corinthians 4:1-3)
I was working on trying to memorize this verse this week for my own personal growth, and I was really blessed by it. We have a glorious and powerful job to do as Christians - to testify about Jesus Christ and see the veil come off as God comes into their hearts, sets them free, and transforms them into the image of His Son.
This month we have been trying to focus on Evangelism in our church. We have been thinking about the people God has placed in our lives. How do we develop relationship with them? How can we start up spiritual conversations? All these questions and thoughts can produce anxiety and feelings of inadequacy (or at least they can in me).
Yet, Paul tells us not to lose heart or feel this way about this ministry given to us. Rather, we should just set the truth forth plainly. We don’t need clever words and we certainly shouldn’t distort the Word of God to make it more palatable to our culture. We just speak the truth in love. To those who are veiled and perishing, even the best laid out Gospel presentation will not make sense to them – at least in this season of their life.
What I’m trying to say is all we have to do is obey the Lord and He will make the seeds grow. We shouldn’t try to trick people into the kingdom; we should set forth the truth plainly. Then God will do the work.

Hi, Hope families!
As summer vacation draws to a close, I hope those of you with school-age children feel well rested and prepared to start another exciting school year!
We would love to be able to reopen classes for all ages in 2nd service. For this to happen, we need 6 adults who can serve at least 2 times a month. Please let me know if you are one of those 6 adults! We have need of both lead teachers and assistants. We love to see teachers connecting with students and building resilient disciples who love Jesus and are counter-cultural! If you are interested in learning more about investing in children to help them become resilient disciples, you can check out this link: https://www.barna.com/research/resilient-disciples/ . Research has shown that adults who befriend students and encourage them to grow in their relationship with Jesus have an enormous impact in the 10% of church-raised Christians who continue to wholeheartedly follow Jesus into their adults lives. It is so special to be part of pouring into their lives at such a formative age!
If you have not yet downloaded the Hope Community Church app, you can find it here: https://hopetucson.com/hope-app. Download it and allow notifications to remain in-the-know about which classrooms are open on which weeks.
Thank you so much for your prayers and partnership as we share the Good News of Jesus Christ with our precious children!
Kyria

HopeYouth is gearing up for the start of school! We are excited to see how God will use students to impact their schools this year. Know that we are praying for your students' return and that it will be a fruitful year.
HopeYouth’s mission statement is to build up students to be rooted in their faith. This inspiration comes from Colossians 2:6-7. We desire to build up the next generation to be the kind of people fully committed to their Father in Heaven. That being said, my heart for this year is getting parents more involved in Youth Ministry. My heart is to better partner with families in discipling students. I believe that the Church and families need to work together in order to build up the next generation. If you have any thoughts or input on how HopeYouth can be better in working with families, please contact me at kmason@hopetucson.com.
