2026:  52 Verses Every Christian Should Know

Not long ago, we read Luke 4 and focused in on how Jesus Christ used Scripture against the temptations of Satan.  If Jesus used Scripture that way, how much more do we need to ready our SWORD OF THE SPIRIT – which is the Word of God!  (Ephesians 6:17)  These are verses we have read, thought about, and memorized.

Therefore, I want to do something together with all of you this 2026.  I am using a list created by O.S. Hawkins called:  52 Verses Every Christian Should Know.  These are not difficult, not long passages, but they are super important to the Good News that we proclaim as believers.

Every Sunday morning before the sermon is preached, we will try to recite the verse of the week together.  Are you ready for the challenge?  Get your home group and family involved.  Get a pack of notecards ready, or download an app to your phone that helps you memorize Scripture (like “Verse Locker”).  We will be using the NIV.  Also, learn the verses with your kids the week before Family Sundays (the first Sunday of every month).  I will be giving prizes to the kids who are able to memorize those weeks.

Love serving Jesus with all of you!

~Pastor Randy

Pit Crew is Ministry
Having church services at Wilson every Sunday takes a dedicated team of volunteers to setup and tear down, and we need more volunteers for this ministry! Here is a brief description of what serving on the Pit Crew looks like.

1. Setup starts at 7:00 a.m. and tear down begins immediately following service. This team is mainly responsible for unloading the HopeWorship trailer and setting up the chairs and projector screens in the gym.

2. We also need volunteers that are willing to tow our HopeKids and HopeWorship trailers to/from the Overton property every week. Those trailers need to be at Wilson by 7:00 a.m. and then brought back to Overton after they are packed up following service.

You can be part of one or both crews, do it once a month, every week, etc.

If you are willing and able, please fill out this simple form below to show your interest in being part of the Hope Pit Crew ministry!

Politics is a part of all of our lives and at times can be an emotionally charged subject that sadly divides families, friendships, communities, countries. So, what do Christians do with politics? How do we honor God through politics? How do we view politics through a lens of faith? How do politics fit into the mission of the Church? Should we be involved with politics at all? What happens when we have different political views in our families or in our churches? Join us as we explore this important topic as a church family.

Sundays, February 1 - April 12
8:00 to 9:00 a.m.
At Wilson School in the Corral Room

In Ephesians 4, we read that God gave His church pastors and teachers for the super important goal of “preparing God’s people for works of service.” All of us are called and supposed to be prepared by the church to serve in God’s kingdom. That is why one of Hope’s values is “every member a minister”.  Starting February 1, we will be having a 10-week school (no class on Easter Sunday) to help you discover your unique gifting, calling, and design for serving in God’s kingdom. The catch is that everyone who takes the class will be assigned a ministry position to serve in for the remaining days of the year.  Please consider and pray about signing up for this “School of the Great Commission”.

Happy New Year Hope Families!
We are looking forward to another year of working with you to disciple our HopeKids.
Our Winter Wonderland was a lot of fun! It was great to see so many families there. Thank you to everyone who helped with such a special event.

What a blessing to see our HopeKids sing in church in December. We are so thankful for Karen Tvrdy, Katie Arellano, Dave & Dawn Lowe, Matt Ulrich, the Tech Team and the Pit Crew for helping us make it happen. Thank you, parents for practicing at home too!

This month, we want to honor and appreciate all our HopeKids volunteers who serve on Sundays, at AWANA or at VBS. Please join us as we honor you and lay out some of our plans for the New Year.

I wanted to first say thank you for the almost 150 responses we got to our Communications survey that was sent in November! That is an amazing amount of feedback and lots of you took the time to write out additional comments that will be very helpful for us moving forward. Some of the highlights are:

Email is the overwhelmingly preferred form of general communications.
Almost 90% of folks use our Hope App.
Over 85% of folks would participate in and use an Online Directory option.
YouTube & Facebook are the most preferred social media platforms.
Information provided in our monthly newsletter is greatly appreciated.

An immediate action we are taking in 2026 is to make an Online Directory available for our Hopers, for those that want to participate. Pastor Randy will be talking about it in our announcement videos and more detailed information on how to get started will be forthcoming in email(s) from me. Really looking forward to rolling this out and making it available to you all!

Lastly, as I wrap up my first calendar year of serving on staff at Hope, I want to say a special THANK YOU to all the members of the Tech Team that help make Sunday mornings happen. You are a blessing to me, to Hope, and it’s a real joy to serve alongside each one of you.
