Peopling
In March of this year, Pastor Glen Elliot came to Hope and led us in a Saturday mini-conference entitled “Peopling” - the ability to know how to respond to different types of people.
"Whoever corrects a mocker invites insults; whoever rebukes the wicked incurs abuse. Do not rebuke mockers or they will hate you; rebuke the wise and they will love you. Instruct the wise and they will be wiser still; teach the righteous and they will add to their learning.” (Proverbs 9:7–9, NIV)
Pastor Glen shared that there are three types of people presented in this passage and throughout the book of Proverbs: Wise, Foolish, and Evil. Each type of person responds differently when presented with truth. In fact, how someone responds to truth reveals the type of person you are dealing with (at least in that moment/season).
Wise (prudent, righteous): Wise people listen to the truth and let the truth transform them.
Foolish (mockers): Foolish people adjust the truth, so he/she does not have to adjust their life to it.
Evil (wicked): Evil people reject truth and seek to hurt the messenger.
Pastor Glen shared with us that to really help someone, you need to know what type of person you are dealing with. The wise, foolish, and evil person each requires a different response. This will help us know how to best help people and will help us know when we can’t help.
Our desire for Hope’s Saturday mini-conferences is to bring the Bible into every aspect of our life. In June, we will be exploring what the Bible teaches about men’s and women’s roles in the church and family. In July, we will be discussing how to help your friends who are falling into the “progressive church movement”.
Below in the newsletter, under the mini-conference section, you will be able to register for these conferences.

Biblical Manhood and Womanhood
Men and women are equally created in the image of God. Therefore, men and women have equal value to God, equal value as persons, and equal value to the church. Yet, Biblical teaching establishes different responsibilities/roles for men and women in the church and in the family. For instance, the Bible does not permit women to function in the role of pastor or elder within a church. What Scriptures teach this? How are we to understand these Scriptures and how do they speak to our culture? What authority do they have? Why did God ordain it so? Has God instructed this in any other areas?
It is our hope on this Saturday's mini-conference to explore several key passages and attempt to define God’s teaching on this. One theologian stated: “When God-given distinctives in gender are denied, altered, or ignored, disaster occurs in marriages, families, and churches.” Current culture is leveling a tremendous blow on young men and young women who do not know what it means to be a Biblical man or woman. It is our hope to embrace what God’s Word says about these important matters.

Happy June, Hope!
Just like that, another school year is over! On May 21, we had our “Promotion Sunday”, and all the students in kinder-5th grade have now moved up a grade in our systems. If your child is not moving into a new grade in the next school year, please let me know and I’ll update their information. Children going into kindergarten will move up on August 13 so they can continue to take advantage of Family Sundays through the summer.
Thank you again to those of you who participated in VBS through material donations, donation of your time, prayer, volunteering during the week, and all the other ways in which you lifted us up! We look forward to sharing details from the week once it is complete.
May you have an awesome day today in Christ!

“He is the one we proclaim, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ. To this end I strenuously contend with all the energy Christ so powerfully works in me.” (Colossians 1:28-29)
Growing in maturity continues to be our focus this year. As each group works through the Discovery Series, we pray that God would sharpen us and feed us wisdom that allows us to grow closer to Him.
We also believe that being in a home group is vital to grow as a Christian.
Praying for all the groups as we take summer breaks and vacations.
If you are interested in being a part of a home group, please email me at kmason@hopetucson.com.

Our vision in Men’s Ministry is to train and build up men in godly masculinity. We desire all men at Hope to be rooted in a Biblical identity and to embrace their role as leaders in the Kingdom.
