Devoted to One Another

The last few weeks have included some powerful times of growing together in community.
On Mother’s Day we had 13 people spontaneously make a public profession of faith through baptism.  Baptism blesses the individual as they declare their salvation before God and witnesses.  Baptism also blesses the audience as they remember their own testimony and it brings those watching to think upon their commitment to encourage/admonish/walk-with their brother or sister who is getting baptized.  We are called to be devoted to each other.
The week before and after Mother’s Day, we had 28 people go through Hope’s New Member’s Class.  This is an opportunity to understand the foundational doctrines of God’s Word that Hope stands upon, but also it is an opportunity to think through what committing to a church/people/family includes.  How do we stay engaged with one another and consider others above ourselves as the Scriptures teach?
Keep looking for opportunities to grow in community.  We need each other.
Some of our home groups are taking a two-month break (starting back up July 15).  However, groups can use this opportunity during the break to have each other over for dinner and meet for a barbecue.  Consider having a night for the ladies and a separate night for the men.  For those not yet in a home group, we are kicking up some new groups in mid July.  Contact Pastor Kevin at kmason@hopetucson.com if you would like to sign up for a home group!
“New Life In Christ! Let's Get Started" is a five-week class before church (8:30-9:30 a.m.), running from July 14-August 11.  Are you new to Jesus or just want to get solid in the basics of the Gospel?  This would be a super opportunity for you!  Sign up below.  (The class will be taught by two of our elders: Chad Schwarz and Scott Haffner.)

It is a joy to offer Hope, grow in Community and be the Church with all of you!

~ Pastor Randy

The Compassion ministry at Hope is in the process of updating our list of those willing to serve, mostly by bringing meals to families who are in need of our help during times of illness, new baby, etc. If you have already joined the list, please let us know if you would like to remain on it, and if you would like to serve in this way, we would love to add you to the list! Come by Hope Central to sign up or contact Denise Edmiston at medmiston22@comcast.net or Claudia Zimmer at zimmer1501@comcast.net.

It is amazing to see our Hope Church body giving their time, talents & gifts for God. We were so blessed by your generosity in supplying so many of our needs for VBS this past week. Thank you for completely purchasing all the items on our wish list and giving additional funds to supply for other needs. Thank you to all our volunteers who gave countless hours in preparing for VBS and for those who helped during the week at our VBS. Most of all, thank you for your prayers that helped support us every step of the way. We had a wonderful week and I know that our kids learned a lot and applied God’s Word in their lives. Please pray that the seeds planted will continue to grow. It definitely took our whole church body to make something of this magnitude happen and we couldn’t have done it without you!

I hope you all enjoy your first month of summer break!
