Becoming Better At Questions

God has given you a group of people in this season of your life that you get to go deeper with.  It doesn’t have to be a huge list of names, but these are the people that God has given you to “walk with” and to be “vulnerable with”.  These are the people that you can hopefully help to get closer to Christ.  I have found in the last few years that becoming better at asking questions has greatly opened up these opportunities and improved relationships.
Next time you are having lunch, taking a drive, or sitting around the pool with this group, try going through these questions together.

The Four D’s
1.  What is something you are delighting in?
2.  What is something that is draining you?
3.  What is something you are discovering?
4.  What is something you are determining to do?

Contentment, Joy, and Being-Present
Discuss which of these three (contentment, joy, being present) is the easiest for you and which one is the hardest.

Emotions
1.  What two words describe your emotions these past few days?
2.  Ask lots of questions about why they picked those two words.
3.  Show empathy (don’t offer solutions at this time).

On Slips of Paper, scatter random questions on the table at a dinner…
Examples:
1.  Given the choice of anyone in the world, whom would you want a dinner guest?
2.  What would constitute a “perfect” day for you?
3.  For what in your life do you feel most grateful?
4.  If you were to die this evening with no opportunity to communicate with anyone, what would you most regret not having told someone?  Why haven’t you told them yet?
5.  What is the greatest accomplishment of your life?

Tech Director

Hey Hopers! I’ve been in the Tech Director role here at Hope for 3 months now and am loving the opportunity I have been given to serve the church in this role. As I said a few Sundays ago when talking about our Tech team, I really want us to be transparent on Sunday mornings. What do I mean by that? Microphones are always on and ready to roll when needed. Song lyrics are easy to read and transitioned properly so you can worship along. The band mix sounds clear and beautiful. The sermons are recorded well every week so those that cannot attend can still view them, etc. No distractions so you don’t even really know we are there.

Now to do all that, we rely heavily on volunteers. And if you’ve been at Hope for any amount of time, you will notice a few familiar faces at the back table who have been serving diligently for almost a decade now! What a blessing that has been and continues to be, but I also want to be able to give those folks a break by having a larger team that can step in to help on Sundays. We currently have 4 positions every Sunday that need to be filled:

1.  Lighting – Controlling the lighting on stage. We have preprogrammed lighting combinations that get changed periodically during service. You don’t need to be “technical” at all!
2.  Slides – You will learn ProPresenter and control what is being shown on the two projector screens. Opportunity to learn a lot of new things.
3.  Sound – Controlling what our body hears every Sunday morning. Most important to have a good “ear” for music and making adjustments in real-time.
4.  Video – This is what we record every Sunday and post to our website & app. There are 2 video cameras that you control, along with displaying slides on the recording.

These are just very brief descriptions of each role. Our teams show up between 7:00 & 7:30 every Sunday to setup, test, and run through a rehearsal with the worship team. Anyone High School age and up is welcome to join the team.

If you are interested in learning more about any of those opportunities, please reach out to me directly via email, text, phone, or find me on a Sunday morning. We have a great team of folks that are extremely helpful, will take all the time needed to train you up, and are just fun to be around every week. Best of all, we get a dedicated donut box at 9:30 a.m.

Why is the Church Incredibly Important?
We have probably heard people say, “I love Jesus, but not the church!”  However, the Scriptures tell us the Church is so important to God’s plan of salvation and our walks with Christ. In this mini-conference, we will explore these truths and build a new love and priority for the Church!

Ever wonder how we begin to follow Christ?  Hope Elders, Chad Schwarz and Scott Haffner want to help you discover crucial Biblical truths that inform us about these first steps to following Jesus:
1.  Sunday, June 29 - Intro
2.  Sunday, July 13 - The Conversion Experience
3.  Sunday, July 20 - What Must I Do to Be Saved
4.  Sunday, July 27 - The Significance of Baptism
5. Sunday, August 3 - Growing in the Church
Chad and Scott will lead interactive discussions as we learn from and inspire one another. Join us on five exciting Sunday mornings.
All classes on Sundays at Wilson School from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.

Hello Hope Church Family!
Thank you so much for all your prayers, donations and help with our Wonder Junction VBS this year! We were so blessed by your generosity in making our VBS such a huge success. I know that seeds were planted and that the kids learned so much about the life of Jesus, their Savior which drew them closer to Him. We know of one child who gave his life to Jesus!  Please keep praying for the kids to use what they learned in their daily lives.
I hope you enjoy your first month of summer!
~Lynne

Our Key Passage This Month:
“Woe to me!” I cried. “I am ruined!  For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the Lord Almighty.”  (Isaiah 6:5)

Big Picture Question:
Why does sin separate us from God? Because God is holy, sin has broken our relationship with God.

 What We’re Learning:
June 1 (Family Sunday):  Eli’s Son Disobeyed God; 1 Samuel 4-6
June 8:  God Takes Sin Seriously; Ephesians 2
June 15:  Israel Demanded a King; 1 Samuel 8-10
June 22:  God Made Saul King; 1 Samuel 11
June 29:  Special 5th Sunday HopeKids Worship with Missionary Guests
