His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and goodness. (2 Peter 1:3)

Awesome Opportunity

Julie and I have been gifted with an incredible opportunity to tour Israel from March 5-21.  I am so excited to get to follow the footsteps of kings, prophets, and even walk-through areas where our Savior Himself walked.  We have been studying the locations in advance and plan to take our Bible along everywhere we go.  In addition, we will be making some short videos and sending them back for when we are apart from Hope and for when we return.  I am excited to get to talk about some of the places we read about every week together in church with some actual personal experience.  Please pray God would open our hearts to learn from Him on this trip.

Here are some of the highlights of the trip. We will walk through 3,000-year-old streets in Old Jerusalem, tour the city of David and recent archaeological finds, explore the Western Wall Tunnels, visit Bethlehem where Jesus was born, the Garden of Gethsemane where Jesus prayed, the site of the crucifixion, and the path Jesus walked to the cross as well.  We are also going to visit a Holocaust museum, the ancient port city of Jaffa (where Jonah fled from the Lord), the theater and ruins of Caesarea, the sea of Galilee, Peter’s hometown of Capernaum, and the Mount of Olives where Jesus taught the Beatitudes.  Finally, we are going to tour ruins of an ancient Canaanite civilization, the En Gedi waterfall where David hid from King Saul, the Dead Sea where ancient scrolls were found of the Old Testament, the remains of King Herod’s palace, the Red Sea, and many other ancient ruins.

I am so excited to share them with you all when we return.  Lord willing, our thoughts on the coming Easter will be filled with many things to share with you.  So grateful for this opportunity of learning and refreshment!

Church Plant Update:
We are really excited to continue moving forward with the church plant. I was reminded recently that every church started as a church plant. I thought that was cool to think about. Also, Hope started as a church plant 11 years ago with the goal to plant more churches. We have been prayerfully considering planting a new church for years and we are sensing that now is the time. It seems that God has blessed Hope immensely and we have so many great people as part of this body. I’m excited to see how He raises people up for the church plant and, how He raises people up at Hope. We are so thankful that we get a chance to multiply for God’s Kingdom in this way and we hope and pray that many people will come to faith in Jesus and be discipled. Please keep praying and reach out if you have any thoughts/questions.
Go Get ‘em!

Romans 12:15 says “Rejoice with those who rejoice and mourn with those who mourn.”
The first part is easy but the latter can be much harder.

Happy March, Hope!
Last month, I shared our excitement to be planning a VBS. This month, I’m still as excited!!! Dates and location are still up in the air, but plan for late May/early June. We will likely do a promotion Sunday AFTER VBS so students who just finished 5th grade can attend. Currently, we are building our core team of volunteers, and are looking for people to fill the following roles. We will begin meeting as a core team sometime in the very near future, so please let me know ASAP if you are interested in being part of this foundational group!

In James we read, “If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin for them.” This verse lays the foundation in our call to not be passive men. Last men’s breakfast, we discussed the idea of rejecting passivity. We are praying over the men of Hope to be men that engage in living out their faith.
Updates:  Men’s breakfast on Saturday, March 19 at 7:30 a.m.  Location TBD

Acts 4:32-35 portrays a beautiful picture of our call to be a family of believers. Selling possessions to help support each other, testifying of the resurrection, and speaking of God’s grace. It is our prayer that home groups at Hope will reflect this kind of commitment to each other. May our home groups be something that truly builds up our body to glorify His name in all that we do.
Updates: We need home group leaders, especially during the week. Please contact me at kmason@hopetucson.com if you are considering leading a home group.

We are praying for all young adults, that they would remain steadfast in the faith and feel connected at Hope. We invite all young adults to our HopeHouse Bible study every Friday at 7:00 p.m. If you have any questions about the study, please contact me at kmason@hopetucson.com.

We will have Youth Group on Sunday, March 6, at different locations for each group.  Kids will need to talk to their leaders for more information.
On Sundays, March 13, 20, and 27 we will have YG at Summit Ridge Community Church.
I know we've missed a lot of weeks due to a bunch of different reasons. But I'm really excited to get back into a more normal schedule for YG. I don't really have much else to say other than that I know how much we all need community and I'm excited for us to be together again.

After months of planning, in partnership with Journey Church and Lifepoint Church, Night to Shine 2022 lit up Tucson on February 11th as we honored and celebrated those in our community who experience disability and special needs. The red carpet (painted onto the parking lot at Journey Church) welcomed guests as they were announced by name, crowned as kings and queens, and driven through the event that included carnival style entertainment, game stations, an amazing light tunnel, music, a photo booth, a dunk tank, and fun carnival food! Volunteers (some from Hope!) helped make this night an unforgettable experience. It was overwhelming to be there, watching the guest's faces light up with joy, and witnessing each and every one of them have their moment to shine!

AccessHope is continuing the work of removing barriers for people with disabilities and special needs as we invite them to come worship and serve along with the body of Christ at Hope. People who experience disability, along with their families, are valuable members of our community and it is our mission to ensure that every aspect of Hope is accessible to every person. If you, or someone in your family, is experiencing a barrier to attending Hope Community Church, or if you would like to volunteer with AccessHope, please contact Sarah Whiting at swhiting@hopetucson.com.
