Our Position In Christ

Our Home Group has jumped into the discovery series, and we have been enjoying our discussions around the dinner table. A few things our group has learned that work well for us… (1) We have decided that it would be good to discuss our “Move to Action” section from the previous week while we eat dinner together. Then after dinner we jump into the new section of material. (2) In addition, we have also decided that each of us should write a couple little notes on our own beforehand for the “Openly Discuss” section. Even though we do that section as a group, it still helps our discussion be a little richer. (3) I have personally done a little of the work we are supposed to do on our own with my wife and also with a brother from my group at a coffee shop – I think I learn a little better discussing it as I work through it.
What has been effective for your group? I hope as "iron sharpens iron" you are sharpening each other’s faith in the process (Proverbs 27:17). Keep plodding along! Be committed, each individually to “Investigate the Scriptures” and the “Seek Counsel Section” to grow personally and help your brothers and sisters.
This morning, in the “Word the Issue Section”, I read: “The reason that most Christians never live a fruitful, joyful Christian life is that they do not understand who they are in Jesus Christ.” Although not all these statements reflect Biblical wisdom, I think this is an example of one that is very true and Biblical. Later in this chapter, it gave a list of Bible verses that help us understand who we are in Christ. Hopefully, this will help you live that fruitful, joyful Christian life the Lord has saved us into…
I am the salt of the earth (Matthew 5:13).
I am the light of the world (Matthew 5:14).
I am a child of God (John 1:12).
I am part of the vine, a channel of Christ 's life (John 15:1, 5).
I am Christ's friend (John 15:15).
I am chosen and appointed by Christ to bear His fruit (John 15:16).
I am a slave of righteousness (Romans 6:18).
I am enslaved to God (Romans 6:22).
I am a son of God; God is my spiritual Father (Romans 8:14, 15; Galatians 3:26; 4:6).
I am a joint heir with Christ, sharing His inheritance with Him (Romans 8:17).
I am a temple - a dwelling place - of God. His Spirit and His life dwells in me (1 Corinthians 3:16; 6:19).
I am united to the Lord and am one spirit with Him (1 Corinthians 6:17).
I am a member of Christ's Body (1 Corinthians 12:27; Ephesians 5:30).
I am a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17).
I am reconciled to God and am a minister of reconciliation (2 Corinthians 5:18, 19).
I am a son of God and one in Christ (Galatians 3:26, 28).
I am an heir of God since I am a son of God (Galatians 4:6, 7).
I am a saint (Ephesians 1:1; 1 Corinthians 1:2; Philippians 1:1; Colossians 1:2).
I am God's workmanship - His handiwork - born anew in Christ to do His work (Ephesians 2:10).
I am a fellow citizen with the rest of God's family (Ephesians 2:19).
I am a prisoner of Christ (Ephesians 3:1; 4:1).
I am righteous and holy (Ephesians 4:24).
I am a citizen of heaven, seated in heaven right now (Philippians 3:20; Ephesians 2:6).
I am hidden with Christ in God (Colossians 3:3).
I am an expression of the life of Christ because His is my life (Colossians 3:4).
I am chosen of God, holy and dearly loved (Colossians 3:12; 1 Thessalonians 1:4).
I am a son of light and not of darkness (1 Thessalonians 5:5).
I am a holy partaker of heavenly calling (Hebrews 3:1).
I am a partaker of Christ; I share in His life (Hebrews 3:14).
I am one of God's living stones, being built up in Christ as a spiritual house (1 Peter 2:5).
I am a member of a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God's own possession (1 Peter 2:9, 10).
I am an alien and stranger to this world in which I temporarily live (1 Peter 2:11).
I am an enemy of the devil (1 Peter 5:8).
I am a child of God and I will resemble Christ when He returns (1 John 3:1, 2).
I am born of God, and the evil one - the devil - cannot touch me (1 John 5:18).
I am not the great "I Am" (Exodus 3:15; John 8:24, 28, 58) but by the grace of God,
I am what I am (1 Corinthians 15:10).

This Month's Mini- Conference "Peopling"
Saturday, March 25 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Taught by Glen Elliott - Former Missionary in Ukraine and Pastor at Pantano Christian Church in Tucson
We've all said it in exasperation - People! Some people are difficult to deal with. Others we love to hang out with. The Bible is clear that there are different kinds of people and we need to respond to each kind of person in a different way. There is no “one size fits all” way to engage with people. Some people reject the ways of God and are intent on hurting us. There are some people in their self-centeredness who refuse to deal with truth and reality. Then there are the wise who allow God’s wisdom to transform how they live. In this mini-conference we'll learn how to do "peopling" well. We’ll look at three kinds of people described in the Bible and learn about the kind of person we are as well as how to deal with each type of person.
April's Mini-Conference on Saturday, April 29 - Apologetics

Hello, Hope!
We are excited to invite you, families and HopeKids volunteers, to our first Kindergarten - 5th grade "Nerf Night" at our Overton property, Friday, March 24 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. We are looking forward to growing fellowship between our students, students' families and their Sunday School teachers. We will provide drinks and some snacks. If you are available and would like to attend, please RSVP here: Nerf Night. If your children have friends in these grades, please feel free to register them, too!
Please plan to bring the following to the Nerf Night, if you have them:
1. A compatible gun to share (not motorized, Nerf-brand gun, labeled so we know who to return it to)
2. Your own protective eyewear
3. A salty or sweet snack (enough for your family)
We are always looking for more people to add to our incredible team of volunteers. If you are interested in becoming a minister to children at Hope, I’d love to hear from you. We are also accepting registrations for VBS volunteers at this time; you can stop by our HopeKids check-in table to register on Sunday or you can do it digitally here: Registration Link
May you all have a wonderful day today (and every day) in Christ!

“He is the one we proclaim, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ. To this end I strenuously contend with all the energy Christ so powerfully works in me.” (Colossians 1:28-29)
Growing in maturity continues to be our focus this year. As each group works through the Discovery Series, we pray that God would sharpen us and feed us wisdom that allows us to grow closer to Him.
We also believe that being in a home group is vital to grow as a Christian. If you are interested in being a part of a home group, please email me at kmason@hopetucson.com.

Our vision in Men’s Ministry is to train and build up men in godly masculinity. We desire all men at Hope to be rooted in a Biblical identity and to embrace their role as leaders in the Kingdom.

HopeYouth has started the Discovering Series. We are praying that God would use this study to help build up students understanding of who Jesus is and what it means to live out their faith. Also, we are praying that this study will help parents disciple their children. We desire that this study would help start conversations at home and allow parents to join their students in building up their understanding. Below is a calendar that reflects what pages we will cover each week of the study to help you follow your student’s progress. This calendar also shows weeks where families can read articles together. If you have any questions about the study please contact me at kmason@hopetucson.com.
