Membership at Hope

“We ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters, and rightly so, because your faith is growing more and more, and the love all of you have for one another is increasing.” (2 Thessalonians 1:3, NIV)
“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” (Hebrews 10:24–25, NIV)

Throughout the New Testament, there is a great call on believers to care for one another, to be devoted to one another, to guard what is taught, to protect the purity of the church, and to spur each other on towards love and good deeds.  There are several ways a church can promote this and try to live this out in their local community of believers.  Home groups are certainly the main opportunity for this to be lived out at Hope.  In addition, Hope also has “church membership” – a covenant of commitment towards each other and towards Biblical truths to help us remain united as a church and be devoted to Jesus.

We are having a Hope Membership two-part class on May 5 & 19 to discuss all that membership entails.  If you have any questions about “church membership”, stop by HopeCentral, email us at info@hopetucson.com, or sign up for the class below!

The following is the covenant we make in devotion to Christ and one another.

Membership at Hope Community Church

I, ______________________, have received Jesus Christ as my personal Savior and Lord. I have read the Statement of Faith of HCC and accept this as the expression of this body’s belief and teaching. I acknowledge the Bylaws of Hope Community Church are the guide for the organization and operation of HCC. I hereby desire to unite with the fellowship and testimony of this church and agree to the following:
•     I will endeavor to connect with the people of HCC by being involved in one of its many ministries where I can walk in Christian love with my brothers and sisters, mutually exercising Christian care and watchfulness over one another, and praying for one another as we share our burdens, sorrows, and joys.
•     I will submit to the authority of God’s Word in all matters of faith and morality, making it a priority for study and meditation.
•     I will regularly commit myself to both corporate and personal worship.
•     I will submit to the leadership of the elders as they submit to God’s Word.
•     I will contribute to the works of the Lord at HCC by actively using the gifts, talents, and resources God has given me.
•     I will pursue spiritual growth for myself and others within the ministries of HCC, and endeavor to share my faith in Jesus Christ as God provides opportunity.

Message from Bob Whren
Hard to believe that it has been over ten years since Merrillee and I began coordinating Hope Seniors.   As Hope has grown, so have Hope Seniors. One of the functions that I created was having seniors notify me of any prayer needs, I would then email the prayer request to all the seniors.  We have seen God answer so many  prayers.  I would sometimes receive a message from a senior letting me know how blessed they had been with the number of messages and prayers from the other seniors.  I never thought much about it until I recently sent a prayer request for myself when I was having detached retina surgery.  I also notified my home group. Reading the messages of prayers for me, I experienced the power of prayer as a calmness came over me. Knowing that so many people were praying for me, I felt absolute peace and comfort with the Lord regardless of the outcome of the surgery.  I knew the Lord was with me.  Post surgery, I was required to lay face down 50 minutes out of every hour for a week and for the following three weeks I could do a leisurely walk in the house.  As I am a highly active man and patience is not my virtue, this has not been easy, but God has given me tranquility.  If you are not in a home group or a senior not involved with Hope Seniors, I would encourage you to join and experience the fellowship and the devoted love of God demonstrated by your fellow Hope members.

Our goal is to grow a community of support and encouragement for all families at Hope Community Church who wish to educate their students at home.  All are welcome to participate in the activities regardless of what type of school they attend. Children that are not school age are also welcome.

Upcoming Events:

Friday, May 10 - Splash Pad Park Day at the Gladden Farms splash pad to kick off the summer.  All are welcome and encouraged to bring a snack/lunch to picnic with. We will be planning future field trips this day as well.

Wednesday, May 22 -Join us at Elevate from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

For more details and information on this group, please contact Bre McCabe at bmambros@gmail.com or Tina Edgin at tsedgin@gmail.com.
