All to Maturity

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”  (Matthew 28:19-20)

You then, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.  (2 Timothy 2:1-2)

As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.  (Proverbs 27:17)

Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be tempted. Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.  (Galatians 6:1-2)

He is the one we proclaim, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ. To this end I strenuously contend with all the energy Christ so powerfully works in me.  (Colossians 1:28-29)

The Scriptures so clearly call us to GROW IN COMMUNITY!  We are called to help each other grow in obedience, to train one another up so that others can be taught, to sharpen one another, to restore each other when a brother/sister is stuck in sin, and to work with all our heart to help everyone grow to maturity in Christ.

How do we do this?  Through relationships!  We should share meals together, we should be a part of a home-group, attend and serve on Sunday morning, attend youth group, serve with one another, meet fellow brothers/sisters for coffee and to read the Word, and one could brainstorm so many more avenues that could produce spiritual growth in the community of Christ and even give us opportunities for evangelism.
Many of you are living this out right now, but I want to challenge some of you to increase your level of relationships in the church and your commitment to your own discipleship and to the discipleship of your brothers and sisters.  Maybe some of these ideas could help you take a step of more obedience in the call to be growing in community.

Things to Try:
Increase your commitment of attending church;  have a neighbor over for dinner; invite all the men of your home group to do a project for a family in your home group; invite all the women of your home group to encourage one of our missionaries; try to have relationship 1-3 times per week with members of the body; invite a family for dinner and pray for one another; start a group that walks together and memorizes Scriptures together; send texts of encouragement to brothers and sisters; every Thursday join the Men’s Core 12 group;  join a Women’s Titus Table; sit with a new family at Jubilee; ask a family out to lunch after church.

So thankful to be a brother in Christ with all of you! May each home group rejoice together in all the goodness that our Lord pours on us. During November, my prayer is that each group would be steadfast in meeting together and that each group would focus on how good our Lord is. May everyone’s heart be filled with thanks to our Lord.
This is also a hard time to be alone. If you are interested in joining a home group, please contact me (Kevin) at kmason@hopetucson.com. Praying that everyone feels connected to the body this November.

Make A Joyful Noise:  A sensory worship experience is back!  We had so much fun at our first sensory worship event back in August, and now in November and December we have the opportunity to worship together again in a sensory friendly environment.
Friday, November 11th from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., in the Community Room, we invite everyone to a calm and quieter worship experience. Lighting will be dimmed, as well. This event is designed for everyone seeking less sensory input while they worship together.
Friday, December 9th from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., in the Community Room, we invite you to an interactive sensory worship experience. We will provide musical tools to facilitate engagement in singing Christmas carols together. This event will be for all our sensory seekers! Louder music, lots of physical engagement, and fun interactive tools.
We hope to see you at the sensory worship experience that is right for you! Bring a friend, or invite anyone in your community who may enjoy such an experience with other believers.
