A Few Things to Share Concerning Trying to Stay Close to Christ
1) Memorizing scripture every week has been a blessing! I have been keeping a journal of our weekly verses and trying to go back and do the old ones whenever I get a chance. Here is the system I use…
Day 1 - 20 times
Day 2 - 15 times
Day 3 - 10 times
Day 4 - 5 times
At the end of the week, I move old verses to a new plan. I try to get to these verses just once a day, then I move them to just once a week, next monthly, then just a couple times a year.
Daily for 45 - 60 days
Weekly for a year
Monthly for 2 - 3 years
2 - 3 times per year for life
This technique isn’t for everyone. Here is another option I have been checking out. VerseLocker is a great app. It has little games you can play to help you memorize the verses. You can also just listen to the verses repeatedly. Gavin Butler, my son-in-law, has already saved all the verses we have done so far – so, if you get this app, have him share the file he has created, and you will have all the verses on your phone app immediately. He will love sharing it.
2) Art of Marriage on RightNow Media: I have been using these six videos for pre-marital counseling, but they would be a rich blessing for any married couple. Check them out and watch together by clicking below.
3) Spotify: The main holder of a Spotify account can now listen to books for free. So far, I have listened to books by John Piper, AW Tozer, Alistair Beggs, a book about asking great questions, one about improving your prayer life, and more. If you must drive anywhere, use the time to learn and grow in your faith. It has been a blessing to me.
4) Reading Scripture with Others: One of the simplest ways to experience blessing that I have experienced in my walk with Jesus is just reading Scripture with someone else. It could be at a meeting with a brother in a coffee shop, with my wife before we fall asleep, with one of my kids or a neighbor. Try just setting out to read through the book of John one chapter at a time with your spouse or family. Or, take on a chapter in Psalms or Proverbs during lunch. There is something rich that happens when you include others in your reading of Scripture.

Men's Bible Study: We will meet every Friday, except September 25, this month from 8:00 - 9:30 a.m. This Bible Study is a great time to dive into God’s Word, pray, and build relationships with other men. This study is for men of all ages.

Our goal is to grow a community of support and encouragement for all families at Hope Community Church who wish to educate their students at home. All are welcome to participate in the activities regardless of what type of school they attend. Children that are not school age are also welcome.

Access Hope wants to remind you that if you need a shorter path to get to the Worship Service, you’re welcome to use the back door to the multipurpose room! Just drive around to the back of the school. You may drop your loved one off or use one of the parking spaces (if there is one available). This is the same entrance our tech team uses to bring the audio/visual equipment in before each service. The ushers will leave the door open until 10:15 a.m. for anyone who needs to use this entrance.
